Design update
Epix is engineered like a Fenix-watch with a robust design and a reliable performance in a more city-smart edition.
The display is much sharper among other things. Epix is designed with a touch screen which makes it easier to use the integrated topographical maps.
Multi-continent map and option for direct download
Garmin Epix offers a pre-installed topographical map with map details of Europe. Another new feature is that you can download new maps directly on to your watch via Wi-Fi, e.g. if you are going to the U.S.. You also get Golf and SkiView maps, now featuring cross-country trails – both for classic and skating style.
UP-AHEAD
If you load your run before a workout or race, Garmin Epix can show you the elements of the route thanks to the new feature Up-Ahead. It will show you when you arrive at the next turn, the location of the next water station, the location of the next hill, etc..
Race Pace Predictor Trend
In Garmin Epix, the Predictor Trend will show you not only how fast you are expected to run 5k, 10k, a half marathon and marathon, but also how your estimates have looked previously. Consequently you can see if your form is improving, deteriorating or stagnating to evaluate the impact of your workouts.
Stamina
Avoid “hitting the wall” with the new feature ”Stamina”. You get an insight into your energy levels- and consumption to prevent you from using all your energy too fast. You get an understanding of how much energy you have left and Epix will calculate how long you can keep running at a certain speed.
New optical heart rate monitor
The Epix heart rate monitor has been designed with a new structure to make it even more precise than previous heart rate monitors.
Tracklog filters
Thanks to the new Tracklog filters you can easily get an analysis of your workout. Your Epix will show your route in different colors which will symbolize your performance on a specific part of the route. You can choose yourself if you want to check out pace, heart rate, altimeter, cadence, etc..
Walk detection
Epix can track how much walking you have done during trail-runs. Consequently you can see precisely how much of your route was spent walking when the hills became too steep.
Multi-Band GPS
With the Multi-Band GPS turned on, you can get much better GPS-accuracy than previously. You can receive more satellite signals than previously and therefore your Garmin Epix can provide much more precise data than previously.
New setup via the app
Setting up your watch is easier with Epix and now everything can be done via the phone. When you are going to use it for the first time, you can already feel a clear difference. In addition all the settings of your watch can be changed via the Garmin Connect app. It makes it easer to set it up and provides a more user-friendly experience.
Other updates
Epix also supports wind- and kitesurfing, and offers a new training feature for strength training, e.g. AMRAP (As many rounds as possible), EMOM (Every minute on the minute), TABATA and a custom-feature.
Garmin Epix – additional features
In addition to the latest features, Garmin Epix also has well-known features like Garmin Pay, Garmin Music, Barometric pressure gauge and compass.
Epix Sportsprofiles
Epix offers a large number of sports features like Running, Trail running, MTB, Cycling, Triathlon, Fitness, Strength training, Sailing, Golf, Swimming, Skiing, Snowboard, Cross country, Rowing, Outdoor, Hiking, Climbing, Tactical and many others.
As a new feature, Epix introduces Kite- and Windsurfing just like you have the option to do HIIT, including AMRAP (as many rounds as possible), EMOM (every minut on every minute).
Activity tracking and smart notifications
Garmin Epix works like a smartwatch in addition to being a multisports-watch. It tracks the most important data to provide a precise understanding of your physical condition. E.g. Epix measures stress level, steps, heart rate, calories and the quality of your sleep. Thanks to the new optical heart rate monitor, these data are now more precise than ever.
